It is sad but each year on April 28 we commemorate workers from across Canada that have be killed or injured at work, along with the impact on their families. This year is no different.

In Canada alone, 852 workers died from workplace-related injuries or illnesses, and another 232,629 suffered a lost-time injury or illness in 2015.

It is a day when workers not only commemorate those who have died, but also strengthen the commitment to health and safety protection and coverage for all workers.

On April 28, please take a moment to remember those injured, killed, or afflicted with an occupational illness while on the job.

Here are some details of ceremonies in our area;

  • London & District Labour Council-Tolpuddle, London (380 Adelaide Street North) at 10am
  • Oxford Regional Labour Council-Dewan Park, Ingersoll (corner of Thames & Charles Streets) at 6pm
