Thames River Cleanup

Posted in Environment, and Unifor Local 88

From our Local 88 Environment committee chair, Todd Sleeper.

“We had a great turn out for the 20th Annual Thames River Clean Up in Ingersoll. Even with the cool weather we had over 70 volunteers help our Canadian Heritage River and our Environment. Many Thanks to Unifor Local 88 for hosting and sponsoring the Ingersoll event once again. Also Thanks to GM Cami Assembly and Veolia for your continuous support. There is some disturbing evidence of dumping going on in the Ingersoll area. It seems if you don’t have bag tags or the garbage truck refuses to take their bags then it’s plan B and that is throw all your trash off the bridge. The bridge at Line 25 is horrible. As it is in many areas outside town…

Many municipalities are switching to the tote system.

No more bag tags.

No more dumping.

The tags are included in your taxes.

This is the future and these polluters are one of the driving forces.

Looking forward to when all Oxford County has the new collection system.
