A message from Local 88 EFAP Reps,
A heavy reality is about to hit on Monday, December 15th, 2025, and Tuesday, December 16th, 2025, when many decisions will be made for most of our membership, only because of the uncertainty around the GM Cami plant.
Our Union has worked hard to continue to provide answers for what’s taken place behind the scenes regarding our plant’s future – we’ve been asked to be patient, and in doing so the answers are about to be presented to each of us (me included) on where we go from here.
It’s not to say it hasn’t already shaken most of us in ways that we are feeling lost/scared/frustrated/hurt/betrayed/used/anxious/depressed/afraid (to mention a few), but one thing that remains certain is that the EFAP is still here and present.
ALL of your benefits regarding “mental health” and “substance use disorder” are available to each of our members and your immediate family (on your GreenShield benefits card) as well as 3 reps (Dave Simmons/ Lisa Mason MacKay / Robert Theriault ) equipped with the knowledge of resources to help direct you through your personal struggles.
Whether that be counselling/psychological assessments/financial relief (counselling), etc, along with your free EAP counselling as well as treatment centre access to help with those struggling from a substance use disorder.
If you are struggling, please know that you are NOT ALONE – we are here for you and your loved ones 🧡
Sincerely,
Dave Simmons
