UNIFOR JOB POSTING
In the near future Unifor National is hoping to receive approval for the Unifor (London Regional) Action Center to open in both London (at Unifor local 27) and Ingersoll (at Unifor local 88) to provide peer-led support for workers impacted by layoff or plant closure.
If this takes place Unifor will be hiring for following positions from the affected workplaces for up to a one-year contract:
(1) Action Center Coordinators (1 per location): duties include organizing events such as job fairs, providing direct support to members seeking new employment, retraining, and skills upgrading, data entry, producing progress reports for the center, maintaining records, attending meetings with Unifor National and the action centers Sectoral Adjustment Committee. When accepting this job posting the member will lose their job of record but retain the department of record provided their seniority would keep them in the department upon returning to the plant.
Coordinator Remuneration: Based on current (full-time) production rate
Hours of work would predominately be Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm, with the occasional split shift to accommodate off shift training, meetings, etc. This position is 40 hours per week.
(2) Peer Helpers from Unifor locals 88 up to 5 positions which could consist of 5 members each working 8 hours or a combination of 1 or more peer helpers working no more then 8 hours per day up to 40 hours per week These positions will aid the Action Center Coordinator in the daily operation of the Action Center.
Peer Helpers Remuneration: A daily honorarium will be given of $240 per day with hours of work determined by the Sectoral Adjustment Committee of the Action Centre (no more than 8 hours per day).
