The 2023 Annual Dependent Certification (ADC) notice was mailed by the GM Canada Benefits Centre on Monday August 28th, 2023 to all GM Canada employees, retirees, and surviving spouses who have dependent child(ren) 18 to 25 years of age (26 in Quebec), currently enrolled in Health Care coverage.
To ensure eligible dependent child(ren) remain covered under the GM Health Care Plan, you are required to update eligibility online by logging on to the GM Canada Benefits Centre website at www.gmcanadabenefits.com between Tuesday September 5th, 2023 through to Friday September 22nd, 2023 and complete the required certification. You may be selected to provide valid proof that your dependent meets the dependent eligibility rules.
How to Verify Your Dependent Child(ren)’s Status:
  • Once you have successfully accessed the GM Canada Benefits Centre website you will be prompted with an Action Needed link at the top of the web page to Verify Your Dependent Child Status.
  • For each child listed, select Yes or No from the drop-down box to verify eligibility and select Confirm.
  • Once you have selected Confirm, you will see the notification message Completed Successfully!
  • Print this page as a confirmation statement for your records. Confirmation will not be mailed.
Coverage Cancellation Dates:
Failure to respond to the Annual Dependent Certification or indicating “No” for eligibility will result in the cancellation of health care coverage for the targeted dependent(s) effective November 1st, 2023. New Green Shield Canada cards will be mailed mid-October and the dependent(s) name will be removed from the back of the card.
If you do not have dependent child(ren) 18 to 25 years of age (26 in Quebec), currently enrolled in Health Care coverage, you will not see a banner on the Your Benefits ResourcesTM. No action is required.
** NOTE: Dependents cannot be added back to coverage outside of the normal business process.
