National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
Dec 6 is National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. On this day we remember and mourn the 14 women that were murdered at École Polytechnique de Montréal on December 6, 1989 and to remember and support all victims of gender-based violence. During this day please take a moment to remember these 14 women Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault, and Annie Turcotte. These women were sisters, daughters, mothers and possible future leaders of this country, their lives were taken due to a sick and disturbing act of anti-feminism.
Today and everyday we as a society need to take a moment to work to end gender-based violence and speak out against it in our daily lives.
We need to protect the women in our lives.
On Dec. 6 at 11 Cami observed a moment of silence for the 14 women and all victims of gender based violence.
