Unifor Local 88 President Steven Pye along with some other 88 members, joined striking members of Unifor Local 12 on the picket line at Saint-Gobain in Plattsville, Ontario, showing solidarity with workers who have been fighting for a fair collective agreement for more than three months.
The 42 members of Local 12 have been on strike since July 24, 2026, after negotiations failed to deliver meaningful improvements to wages and pension security. Despite an overwhelming 97% strike mandate, workers continue to face an employer unwilling to meet their demands.
Adding to the frustration is Saint-Gobain’s use of scab labour, to maintain operations during the strike. The use of scab workers undermines the collective bargaining process and highlights the urgent need for stronger anti-scab legislation in Ontario.
Local 88 recognizes the determination and sacrifice of our brothers and sisters at Local 12. Their fight for fair wages, secure pensions and respect on the job is a fight that deserves the support of the entire labour movement.
Solidarity!!
