The following Frequently Asked Questions have been prepared to address common questions regarding the 2026–2029 Collective Agreement and related matters affecting CAMI members.

2026 - 2029 GM CAMI COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT

SUB / IMP
Q Do members receive the raises of the new collective agreement on their SUB/IMP?
No, members must return to work to see the wage increase on their SUB/IMP entitlement. SUB/IMP is calculated at the rate of pay when at the time of the start of layoff.
Income Maintenance Plan (IMP)
Q For eligible team members, when has IMP been extended until?
IMP has been extended until the team members recall date, or until May 1, 2028, whichever comes first.
Note: If your current entitlement of IMP ends beyond May 1, 2028, team members will still have their contractual entitlement.
Q When do the weekly IMP applications stop?
This is the last week (week ending 09/19/2026) for IMP application. Going forward (after week ending 9/19/26) IMP applications are only required if reporting outside earnings.
Q When does the one-week delay between SUB and IMP payments take effect?
We are working through this with the company. The company is trying to get this ready for the next group who will transition on November 22, 2026.
Q Healthcare benefits on IMP, does everything stay the same including dental, basic group life insurance and extra accident insurance?
Correct, these benefits will remain active while on IMP.
P&Q Bonus
Q When is the P&Q Bonus being paid?
October 8th, 2026
Q Who is Eligible for the P&Q Bonus?
  • Payment of the P&Q bonus will be made to all team members on the active roll of the company as of the Monday following the notice of ratification.
  • Payment will be made to members on the inactive roll who performed work for the Company between January 5, 2026, and the Monday following the notice of ratification, including those who have retired. See next question about retirees.
  • Payment will be made to team members on the inactive roll unable to perform work for the Company between January 5, 2026, and the Monday following ratification due to Maternity, parental or adoptive leaves, providing they worked during the term of the 2024 Collective agreement.
  • Team members on Indefinite layoff as of the Monday following notice of ratification, who have not performed work between January 5, 2026 and the Monday following ratification, and did perform work during the term of the 2024, collective agreement, will receive the P&Q bonus.
Q I retired in 2026; do I receive the P&Q Bonus?
Retired members must have performed work for the company after January 5, 2026 to receive the P&Q bonus.
Q Will we get SUB/IMP payments on the week of the P&Q payment?
  • IMP is not paid in the week of the P&Q payment due to GM income.
  • SUB will be paid.
Note: If you are collecting EI, please reach out to Rob Gallace or Jeff Bankes to document the P&Q bonus properly with Service Canada.
Q Can retirees direct the P&Q Bonus to Canada Life RRSP?
No, unfortunately any retiree eligible for the P&Q bonus will not be able to direct this payment into an RRSP account.
December Bonus
Q Do we qualify for the December bonus being laid off?
Members must have performed work or are deemed to have performed work due to statutory leave, for the Company in 2026 to be eligible for the December Bonus.
Pref-hire Opportunities
Q Will there be Pref-hire opportunities?
  • Oshawa and St Catherines are currently experiencing layoffs. We don’t expect to see Pref-hire opportunities at these locations.
  • Woodstock PDC – There may be future openings due to retirement incentives, etc.
  • We will continue to monitor future opportunities for our members.
Miscellaneous
Q Did we re-negotiate the EI Clawback for the 2026-2029 Collective Agreement?
No, we were unsuccessful at re-negotiating the EI Clawback.
Q Do I need to file for a new denial letter every 52 weeks?
While receiving SUB, members must continue to provide proof of EI or an EI denial letter to maintain their SUB payments. An active EI denial is also required when a member transitions to IMP. Once the member is receiving IMP, no additional denial letter is required.
