One month ago on September 24th 2022, eighty four golfers participated at Pine Knot Golf & Country Club in a tournament to honor Dan Borthwick’s years of commitment to Unifor Local 88, Unifor National and more specifically his dedication to Recreation at the Local, Regional and National levels. It was a typical fall afternoon with members and family from Locals 88, 27, 636, 302, 3264 and National all coming together to play a round of golf and enjoy a great meal in solidarity and in Dan’s Memory. I’d like to add that in doing so, we were able to raise $2000.00 for Lansdowne Children Centre, a charity near and dear to Dan’s heart, and an additional $1200.00 for the Childhood Cancer Foundation. Big thank you to all that supported this event, to Dan’s wife Gwen Borthwick, Len Poirier Unifor National Secretary Treasurer and Local 88 President Brent Tree for coming and speaking at the reception, as well as our fantastic Local 88 Recreation Committee and POEM Council volunteer’s for their efforts to make this day a wonderful success and run so seamlessly for all its participants.
