The Ontario government recently announced changes to the mask mandate for Ontario. The government is leaving it up to each business to set their own mask requirement policy.
We have been in talks with GM and want to share what has been decided.
I would like to start off by thanking everyone for following all of our Covid protocols. It has been a long two years, but judging by our results, the procedures helped keep our plant safe.
The reps are taking many phone calls by people who want the masks off, now! They are also getting calls asking us to retain the mask policy, some families have been through some tough times with Covid.
The company will be lifting the mask mandate next week. It will not be on Monday, but it will take place at some time next week. This is a corporate policy and not just a GM Ingersoll decision. Entry procedures, hand washing requirements, etc. are being reviewed.
Masks will continue to be made available for those that wish to wear them.
We would ask for everyone to be very respectful of your co-workers decision on their individual choice to wear a mask.
Everyone should be aware that the local health authority may put a requirement for masks in the future, depending on provincial needs and the status of our area. It has been a long two years, we just ask for a few days more patience and we will be through this tough stretch.
