Some Service Canada agents have called our membership in regards to their “Pay in Lieu”.
They have reached out to the employer first but have been unsuccessful therefore they may reach out to you, the employee. It is very important that, if you do get a call to tell the Agent that this payment is “Pay in Lieu of notice” for the following:
- Pay in lieu of notice, paid due to the indefinite layoff- Gross amount
- COLA being paid because of the lieu of notice – Gross amount
- Vacation being paid because of the lieu of notice- Gross amount
This is because GM missed the “Pay in Lieu” on the ROE’s that were done incorrectly. They are actively trying to rectify the issue.
