Unifor Local 88 Update

Due to very little new information, we are not doing a video today – however there is some info that our members need to know.

To start with, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our demonstration with our big Canada Flag.  It was great to see so many show up yesterday in the cold, very wet weather, to say hello to Unifor President, Lana Payne.  It was very heart-warming to see so many members digging in and supporting the fight for our jobs.

The demonstration is continuing today for those who still want to brave the weather.

VACATION PAY OUT – The company have informed us that they are paying all outstanding vacation, bank time and vacation accrued next week for everyone that has been laid off.  Even if you have booked vacation later this year, it will all get pulled ahead and paid out.

Our benefits rep have a very important message – anyone who is getting vacation paid out, you need to stop in the Union Hall or call one of the benefit reps.

You can report as normal, however contact the benefit reps to get your vacation payout documented with EI.

Before contacting the benefit reps, you must have a copy of your paystub – the benefit reps need more information than just your vacation pay.

You can get a copy of your paystub on workday – if you cannot get onto your workday, you have 2 options – call GM People Services at 1-800-930-9130 or call Mark Gee (Coordinator) @ 519-532-2615.

Benefit reps contact numbers:

  • Jeff Bankes            519-521-6724
  • Stephan Cronin    519-777-7775
  • Rob Gallace           519-521-7609

We have no new information on the 6-month payout at this time – we are still waiting on GM to answer our numerous questions around that subject.

If new information comes, we will keep everyone updated.

Go Jays Go!

Enjoy your weekends!
