On Thursday, November 13, GM gave our Master Bargaining Committee a proposal to resolve 2 grievances: 25-006 – grievance submitted on behalf of the 79 laid off members and grievance 25-021 – grievance submitted on behalf of all members. Both of these grievances dealt with the same issues; layoff notice timelines, pay requirements, Letter 14 requirements, etc.
The proposal from GM touched on many areas and we reviewed it thoroughly. Later, on Thursday evening we gave an entire counter proposal to GM. We spent large part of Friday and the weekend clarifying questions and different scenarios. We are waiting for GM to respond but do expect them to take a couple of days as some of our ideas were new concepts for them to consider.
We are trying to give our members some options going forward. We want to be clear that our main goal is to try and retain the plant and push GM to consider the short term and long-term future of our plant.
