Unifor to begin Auto Talks 2026 with Ford Motor Company
As Unifor launches Auto Talks 2026, Ford Motor Company (Ford) has been selected by the union to lead Detroit Three collective bargaining negotiations. Contract talks are scheduled to begin on June 22, 2026. If an agreement is reached between Unifor and Ford, this will set the pattern for subsequent contract talks with General Motors and Stellantis.
This round of collective bargaining comes at a pivotal moment for Canada’s auto sector, as workers face unprecedented challenges from unjust tariffs on Canadian made vehicles, alongside major market shifts in EV policies, import pressures from Chinese automakers, and rising global economic and trade uncertainty.
Given the current crisis facing the auto sector, it was determined that entering negotiations at the earliest opportunity would put us in the best position to advocate for autoworkers and protect jobs as challenges continue to grow.
The decision to begin negotiations with Ford has the unanimous support of Unifor’s General Motors and Stellantis Master Bargaining Committees.
Unifor has maintained a long-standing and productive working relationship with Ford Motor Company. The move to negotiate a timely new collective agreement takes on added significance with both the upcoming relaunch of Oakville Assembly Plant and ongoing CUSMA talks.
Members will be kept informed throughout the bargaining process with information on how to sign up for the latest updates forthcoming.
The Bargaining Committees consist of workers elected by fellow members at their workplaces to negotiate on behalf of the membership with the support of National, Local and Auto Council leadership and Unifor staff departments including Research, Pensions and Benefits and Communications to name a few.
Your Committees are ready to get to the table and deliver an agreement that strengthens our future and moves us forward together.
