JOB POSTING UPDATE

PLEASE READ THE UPDATE IN IT’S ENTIRETY, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO STATE THERE WILL BE PILOT POSTINGS IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS OF APRIL THAT WILL BE TREATED IN THE NORMAL POSTING PROCESS.

After much discussion between the parties and after getting a lot of feedback from the membership, we are going to take a much different approach to fill all the primary openings for the upcoming BrightDrop program.  The union approached the company with a new system to populate all the initial Brightdrop postings.

We are going to canvass each person by seniority.  By doing this, when you select a job, it will be confirmed immediately.

Starting May 9, we will start the process.  We are going to combine everyone, team leaders and production and go with pure seniority.  Only current team leaders or red circled team leaders can elect to choose a team leader opening.

In late April or early May, we will post a master list of everyone in the plant by seniority with a calendar date showing the day your required to select your job.    We are planning on bringing in 40 people per day, from 9am until 11am.  We plan on doing this over a seven-week period in May and June.

You will come to the hall on your specific date, and you will see a map of the plant, every department, all 3 shifts, and pick any open job you would like.

40 members will be asked to show up each day, so we ask that the more senior numbers arrive each day by 9am as they pick first.

THE PRODUCTION JOB CANVASS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE UNION HALL DAILY FROM 9AM -11AM.

This will allow everyone to see every open job that is available.  This will also prevent individuals from posting to hundreds of potential job openings and the requirement to watch the electronic posting boards for weeks at a time.  This also will help partners with childcare issues who need to work on opposite shifts, help car-pools, and give everyone instant confirmation on their job of choice.  By using the union hall members can also bring their children if needed to the hall while they pick their job.

We will work on a central call-in or email for those that cannot attend on their selection date – this will likely be done by email only so that we have a confirmed paper trail for those that cannot make it to the union hall.  We will re-post weekly the people that select the following week.

WE CANNOT HOLD UP THE POSTING PROCESS IF YOU MISS YOUR DATE.

It is imperative that everyone know and understand the date of your selection as the process will continue.

We are making it only a two-hour window each day, so the lower senior members don’t have to wait around all day.  We ask that everyone respect the other members that are on your day and arrive in a timely fashion.

The company is working on a video that will show many of the jobs by area to help people understand what the work will look like.  It is our goal to have that video playing at the union hall while the job canvass is ongoing.  We also hope to have that video playing by next week so people can watch it while still at work.
