It was an honour to join members of Unifor on Saturday 3 December to support your efforts to fight for public healthcare. As you may recall, I had the privilege of delivering a speech that argued against profiteering in healthcare, after which the entire membership passed a resolution to oppose privatization and hold Doug Ford to account. It felt like a historic moment and I am thankful that you allowed me to participate.
The reason I am writing today is in follow-up to the petition which I presented at the Regional Council, which you signed. Thank you for entrusting me with this information.
Last week, on Wednesday, the petition was officially certified and I had the privilege of presenting it on your behalf at Queen’s Park. You can watch me present it in the Legislature here.
The next step will be that the Government must provide a written, formal response within one month. You may rest assured that as soon as I receive it, I will reprovide an update to you.
If you know anyone who is interested in signing the petition or would like to help fight against privatization, please invite them to sign up here (patientsnotprofits.info).
Furthermore, if I can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely,
Dr Adil Shamji
