As we embark on the vibrant and empowering month of February, Unifor celebrates and reflects on the incredible contributions and resilience of Black communities, who throughout history, have played pivotal roles in shaping societies, breaking barriers, and inspiring profound and positive change.

This month, we proudly stand in solidarity with our Black members, colleagues, and communities, celebrating their achievements and acknowledging our ongoing journey towards justice and equality. It is a celebration of brilliance, resilience, and a testament to the undeniable impact of Black voices on our shared history. Unifor takes great pride in recognizing and amplifying Black excellence within our union and beyond.

Black History Month is not only a time for remembrance and celebration, but also a resounding call to action—a call to actively contribute to a future where every individual is treated with dignity and respect. Unifor recognizes the importance of acknowledging the struggles faced by Black workers and the milestones they’ve achieved in our fight for justice and equality.

Black history is richly woven with stories of triumph over adversity and a persistent commitment to social justice. Throughout history, Black individuals have made indelible contributions to the labour movement, politics, arts, sciences, and every facet of our society. From civil rights leaders and activists to artists and innovators, the impact of Black excellence is deeply woven into our daily lives.

At Unifor, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where every member feels heard, valued, and respected. Black History Month serves as a poignant reminder of the work that still needs to be done to eradicate racism and discrimination from our workplaces and communities.

Unifor encourages its members to engage in conversations about race, diversity, and inclusion, both within our union and in the broader community. By fostering open dialogue, we create spaces for learning, understanding, and dismantling oppression.
