Unifor Energy Council Statement on Tariffs

Dear members,

As you know, Unifor is mobilizing an economy-wide fightback against U.S. tariffs on Canadian products.

A key component of the campaign is working with the federal government and the provinces to provide a bold policy response that protects Canadian jobs and supports workers impacted by the economic consequences of an irrational and aggressive American trade war.

I’m writing today to share the Unifor Energy Council position on U.S. tariffs. By keeping the pressure on Canadian policy-makers, we can ensure that the transport of energy, energy products, and electricity to value-added production centers—including refineries, chemical, plastics, mid-stream utilization, and storage—is sustainable, secure, and safe for travel throughout Canada.

Remember: there is a federal election on the horizon and rank-and-file Unifor members have a key role to play in pressuring the political parties to take stronger pro-worker positions. Learn how you can play a role in your local community.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the council executive committee.
